The NEW 3 Wishes Fabric – Farm Fresh Collection by Flora Waycott has been shipped to quilt shops! Are you ready for some Farm Fresh fabric?
We are! I couldn’t wait to get a hold of some of this country sweetness for a hexagon quilt! A large 3 in hexagon acrylic template was on hand and fit the scale perfectly. There are ten prints to choose from or use them all. My favorites are the denim blue and golden yellow, along with a sweet black and white sketchy hen print. The collection can be previewed here, but the hand feel is beautiful to touch, so you must see it in person!
Sewing:There are many methods. You can mark every seam line, use freezer paper or EPP methods, but sew consistent seams and don’t run into the corners and you will still have success with this. Sewing in rows was the plan for this size quilt. I used safety pins to hold every piece together in a row, then went right to the machine. Finger press as you go, whatever way the pieces fall naturally.
Pin the matching hexagon to the blue, mark the 1/4 inch seam corners and sew.
All three hexagons are machine sewn together, ready to be turned to match the red and white sides.
Here’s the finished 36 in x 40 in quilt, with the perky poppy binding. Love this darling line and no-stress hexagon method. I hope it works for you, too!
